Today I had the opportunity to teach the laurel class in Young Womens today. My daughter Shaniah is in that class.
Yesterday I started to get sick. This was the first time I had come down with a cold virus in the past year. Everyone in my family tries really hard to stay healthy so they don't spread it to me. If I get any type of sickness my entire body flares up due to the sarcs. Because my immune system is already under attack my body has a hard time fighting off any illness. My lungs are already weakened due to the disease that I have and every virus or cold seems to settle down into my lungs due to all the tumor-like granulomas already there. My Dr. had warned me that if and when I get sick to get right into see him so that I don't end up in the hospital. He said that because of all the granulomas in my lungs and the difficulty I have in getting air out of them, he said it is really easy for me to get bronchitis and pneumonia.
When I woke up this morning I could tell my body was in full flare mode. My chest was very tight and it was hard for me to talk. But I was so excited to teach my class in Young Womens today. I had been preparing a little bit each day all week. I was ready for this lesson and super excited to share my testimony of the Savior, especially at this wonderful Christmas season. I had asked each girl in my class to bring an object or picture of something that has helped them grow stronger in the gospel or closer to their Savior.
My husband and son really wanted me to go in to the instacare today, but stubborn old me said I just want to wait and see if I can kick it with the essential oils and go see my doctor who knows about sarcs tomorrow.
My hubby and son weren't really happy with my decision, but I knew that the Saviors atonement would carry me through this day just as it had so many times before. I knew that if I prayed really hard I would be able to talk for my lesson. I knew that I needed to share my extreme, overwhelming gratitude I have for my Savior and what he went through in order to help each of us.
During my lesson I was able to show them the "He is the Gift" campaign that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints released during this Christmas season. I explained how this billboard was posted in the most populated cities around the country including times square in New York City. This campaign was to help everyone realize the true meaning of Christmas and to know that "He is the Gift"
I then showed this video clip that has reached over 4.5 million people that went aligned with this
"He is the Gift" campaign
I told the girls that today I wanted them to obtain 3 things from this lesson:
1. Know that He is the Gift
2. Embrace the Gift and then to
3. Share the Gift
I was so impressed by each girls object they brought to share in class today. I felt their testimonies as they shared truths of the gospel and how the love of their Savior. For my object I shared a video I had made about 3 years ago for a women's conference I was asked to talk at. It was called "Every Breath."
I told the girls that when I made this video I had no idea how much it would help me through the trial I have went through this past year.
After we all shared you could feel the spirit so strong in the room. We then talked about how grateful we are to have the gospel in our lives and to know that the Savior is always there for each one of us no matter what we are going through.
We then talked about how we can share things like we did today with our friends and family. We got so caught up in sharing and discussing it was time for class to be over. I had one more video and a quick project I wanted to do. The girls said they didn't care that they would get out late and just wanted me to finish what I had planned. We then watched this video of how we can Share the Gift.
After the video we talked about how each of us can share the gift of our Savior with the ones we love. We wrote them down and took a picture.
Such an amazing group of Young Women.
I know the Lord strengthened me in order to teach today. I know I could have never done it without his help. I know that if we rely on him in everything we do He will bless us with whatever we need to make it through!
