Today was the first day of a two day swim meet for Shaniah. There were 11 different high schools competing in todays meet. This meet was sponsored by the High School Shaniah swims for. They did this to earn money for Silver Rush. This is a charity the students raise money for in December and donate it to the Intermountain Healing Hearts foundation. This money goes to help pay for kids heart surgeries.
I was amazed how much the students from Riverton Highschool raised this year in only 4 short weeks. They raised over $133,000. Each year they seem to beat their record from the previous. I remember when my 25 year old was in that same high school. His senior year was the first year they started Silver Rush. They raised $64,000 their first year and have increased each year. So in the past seven years the students continue to find new ways to raise money for their charities.
I love their slogan, "It's not about the money, but about the change!" They are not talking about money change but the change within the students themselves as they all change for the better while finding ways to serve and help others during the entire month of December. Watching my daughter, Shaniah, change while serving others was amazing as she takes the focus off of herself and onto helping others.
Silver Rush Invitational was the name of the meet and over 11 schools with hundreds of students paid to not only support our charity but also participate in this amazing meet!
