Shaniah competed in her region meet and did a great job. I was so proud of how hard she worked this season. She practiced 3-4 hours each day swimming and doing dry land workouts. She was utterly exhausted on some days and did not even have enough energy to do any thing fun but go straight to bed to just start the entire routine the next day. Her life these past few months have been workout, workout, and workout. I know she is so thankful her swim season is over but she is excited and anxious to start lacrosse tomorrow.
I have watched her hardest swimming events become easier and easier as she has turned some of the most difficult ones into her favorites as she has put in the hard work to accomplish her goals.
Over the season she has pulled several muscles and has even recovered from injuries sustained in a car accident. She has not had it easy these past few months by any means but has learned to rely upon the Lord to help her through even her most difficult days.
I have watched her grow stronger physically throughout this season but even more importantly I have witnessed first hand the spiritual growth that has strengthened her and kept her going when even she thought she couldn't! I am strengthened by her commitment and dedication to never give up even when things got tough but instead kept pushing through until she conquered!
Although she did not win any medals or awards of any kind today she did receive something that she will never forget and will carry with her the rest of her life! She knows that "SHE CAN DO HARD THINGS!" She learned that hard work combined with the help of the Lord can do anything she sets her mind to! She broke all of her personal best times today and was very excited to have finished the 200 IM, her most difficult race by cutting 4 seconds off!
In life…It's not about what you win that matters, but its how you finish that really matters!
Her 200 free relay team that took 6th place overall and there time qualified for state.
A VERY HAPPY GIRL AND PROUD MOM!
