I just got back from the temple! This was my first time going alone in a long time. I was so excited that I did not have to wear my special glasses nor did I get dizzy or black out while I was there under the florescent lighting. I am so extremely grateful for the opportunity I had to take some of my families names and do their initiatory work for them.
I felt such an overwhelming gratitude to the Lord today for allowing me to heal and begin to do things that I haven't been able to do for several years. For the past year my mom and I have been doing a great deal of family history research for many of our Danish ancestors. We have both learned so much and have been able to find Danish Parrish records that have linked many missing family members to our family tree. We have sourced many documents and added them to our family tree on Family Search to prove the authenticity of our research. We hope that our research will help many others searching the same ancestors as well as allow them to be able to find some of their own missing relatives both past and present.
Taking your own family names to the temple is so amazing. Not only did I feel the spirit so strong so did the temple workers. We all had tears in our eyes as their work was completed. I knew these ancestors of mine had waited so long to be found to finally get their work completed. I knew they were very, very, happy and so was I. As I did this I felt close to not only my earthly family but also to my ancestors that have passed on as well.
One of my female ancestors I did temple work for in the temple today was born in 1815. Her birth record was unreadable and from that they were never able to identify who her parents were and never were able compete her work when the extraction projects were completed. It wasn't until our research that we found a record of her confirmation when she was 14 from old Danish Parrish records that gave her parents name and birth date. Her name was Marianne Jensdatter and she had never been part of our family records due to un un-readable birth record. But now she has joined our family tree, temple work has been done, and although it has been so many years I know she is so happy today knowing she is sealed tougher with her family forever!
As we have done this work we are led by the sprit and allowed to find things that we never thought possible. I know the Lord is also blessing my health and my family as I strive to do our family history and find missing family members and then do their temple work. I try to involve as many family members as possible in doing the temple work.
My youngest daughter Shaniah did the baptisms a couple days ago, today I did their intiatory, and tonight my oldest daughter Kaylee and her husband are doing the endowments. Kaylee is doing on of my family names and Andrew, Kaylee's husband, is doing the endowment for his father.
My mom will then in two days do the other endowments and a couple sealings with my father. How grateful I am for family both past and present who are working together to create an eternal family that will be together forever someday!
